BJ Upton has always been a frustrating player. Despite being blessed with an endless array of tools and abilities, Upton has never come close to matching his 2007 season when he hit .300/.386/.522 as a 22-year-old. Since that time, and despite three 40+ steal seasons,…

Classic Moments in Baseball:   May 27, 1993 - Canseco uses his noggin!

On May 27, 1993 Cleveland’s Carlos Martinez hit a warning track line drive fly ball to deep right to start the fourth inning. Canseco ran back to the wall, reached up and narrowly missed the ball. Possibly glancing off his glove, the ball hit Canseco squarely on the head and bounced over the fence for a home run.

Teammate David Hulse’s reaction was absolutely priceless when he went to check on a slightly dazed and confused Jose Canseco!  :)

#BlueJays Henderson Alvarez signals to umpire Marty Foster that he is an idiot.

MLB really needs to bear down on umps for ridiculous or spiteful calls. Henderson was ejected from the game for pitching inside to Rangers Ian Kinsler. Even Kins thought the call was crey-crey!

Huggles to the Reuters photog who took the original shot, and the Daylife they rode in on.

Maybe the Mayans John Cusack in the film 2012 was onto something. Because this is the kind of thing that could crumble sovereign nations and cause Facebook’s stock value to plummet.*
This is a good cultural reference, right?

The standings will look much better when the #Jays surpass the Rays come Wednesday night!

Classic moment in baseball:  @VernonWells10 strikes back!

All this talk about hecklers, especially with the #BlueJays in Tampa and with Vernon on Twitter last night, it reminded me of this classic moment during a May 2007 game when Mr. Wells personalized a baseball for Cleveland fan Jeff Raycher.

The ball read as follows:

“Dear Mr. Dork, here is your ball! Can you please tell me what gas station you work at so when you are pumping my gas I can yell at you!!! Now sit down, shut up and enjoy the game! Your favorite center fielder.”

You gotta love Vernon’s sense of humor and his quick wit in order to come up with that nugget on the fly!  :)

Bigger props to the person who created the sign. He/she is the true artiste!
I have since been informed that the artiste is @JoelHHunter!  Kudos for creating such a masterpiece and thanks to @james_in_to for identifying said person!  :)
